PAID Service to Science Scholars Research Program
We are excited to share that we are now taking applications from students to join the next cohort of the Service to Science Scholars Research Program at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System for the summer of 2025.
This year we have funding to support up to 6 paid, full-time summer research positions for undergraduate (junior or senior standing), graduate students in psychology and related fields, and medical students. During our 10-week Service to Science Scholars Research Program students will gain real-world experience conducting cutting-edge Veteran-focused research at a major VA medical facility. Our nationally and internationally recognized award-winning VA faculty are studying a range of questions relevant to Veteran populations, from PTSD, suicide risk and prevention, traumatic brain injury, cognitive aging, severe mental illness, addiction, sensor technologies/mHealth assessments, clinical trials, to risk and resilience. In addition to hands-on research experience, the program includes faculty-led weekly seminars on research professional development, mentoring (grad students only), statistics, and other relevant research methodologies and topics. All students present a flash talk at the Annual Service to Science Scholars Research Program Symposium, and many past participants have elected to present their projects at national and international scientific conferences.
Given the overall goals of this research experience is to diversify the VA’s future scientist workforce, we will be giving preference to applicants who are US Veterans, and strongly encourage students who are current US service members, a dependent of a current US service member/US Veteran, or who are from backgrounds historically underrepresented in sciences (e.g., students from minoritized, low-income, differently abled, first-generation college students, and other backgrounds), to apply.

SUMMARY
Supports the District’s speech-language pathologists in serving students with communication disorders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Conducts speech and language screenings without interpretation, using screening protocols specified by the supervising speech-language pathologist.
- Provides direct therapy assistance, including feeding for nutritional purposes to students except students with dysphagia, identified by the supervising speech-language pathologist by following written therapy plans, individualized education programs, individual support plans or protocols developed by the supervising speech-language pathologist.
- Documents student progress toward meeting established objectives as stated in individualized education program without interpretation of the findings, and report this information to the supervising speech- language pathologist.
- Assists the speech-language pathologist in the collecting and tallying of data for assessment purposes, without interpretation of the data.
- Assists with informal documentation during an intervention session by collecting and tallying data as directed by the speech-language pathologist, preparing materials and assisting with other clerical duties as specified by the supervising speech-language pathologist.
- Schedules activities and prepare charts, records, graphs or other displays of data.
- Performs routine check-up and maintenance of equipment.
- Participates with the speech-language pathologist in research projects, in-service training and public relations programs.
- Signs and initials therapy notes for review and co-signature by the supervising speech-language pathologist.
- Unless required by law, does not disclose clinical or confidential information orally or in writing to anyone not designated by the speech-language pathologist.

Staff Associate I-Columbia University NYC
Columbia University is a leader in biomedical research and is a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Columbia's Vagelos School of Physicians and Surgeons is amongst the top research universities and provides an outstanding intellectual environment. The Columbia Center for Translational Immunology (CCTI) at Columbia University Medical Center is a multi-departmental, multidisciplinary research center aimed at optimizing the translation of advances in basic immunology from the laboratory to the clinic, understanding immunological diseases and events in humans and maximizing the transfer of information and methodologies to achieve synergy between different disciplines of applied immunology. The mission of the CCTI is to accelerate the translation of fundamental advances in immunology into new clinical therapies for immune diseases by creating a center that Fosters "horizontal" integration of information and advances between immunological disciplines and "vertical" integration between scientists and clinicians; Trains a new generation of scientists and clinicians with the skills to lead the translation of future advances in immunology into clinical therapies. The latter goal includes didactic teaching roles for CCTI faculty in the undergraduate and graduate basic Science and medical curricula of the University and one-on-one mentorship to provide training in laboratory research to undergraduate, graduate, and medical students as well as residents, clinical fellows, and post-doctoral fellows.
The laboratory of Dr. Mor's research targets patients with cancer and autoimmune diseases and seeks to improve the outcome of their treatment.
