Evan MacLean, Associate Professor in Psychology and Director of the Arizona Canine Cognition Center, explains in an interview what dogs can tell us about aging. Because elderly dogs can suffer from cognitive dysfunction that is similar to dementia in humans, researchers can assess the ways in which games and puzzles provide mental stimulation for dogs to help understand how human brains respond at an advanced age.
