Spanish-Language Tobacco Cessation Certification Launches in Ventura County!
In partnership with the Ventura County Public Health (VCPH) Tobacco Education and Prevention Program, the University of Arizona HealthCare Partnership developed and delivered a customized Spanish-language nicotine dependence treatment certification for Spanish-speaking health professionals and community health influencers, including Promotoras(es).
Health Care Partnership (HCP)
The new curriculum – Certificación en Técnicas Básicas para Dejar el Tabaco en Comunidades Hispanas – and its INSTRUCTOR-level certification launched in June 2025 in Oxnard, CA. Eighteen (18) participants completed the eight-hour certification and received Certificates of Completion. To ensure sustainability, seven (7) VCPH program leaders earned INSTRUCTOR certification and are now equipped with the materials and resources needed to deliver the training locally.
This initiative expands access to culturally and linguistically appropriate tobacco cessation services across Ventura County.
