APA CEO Arthur Evans with Psychology Graduate Students

Dr. Arthur Evans, CEO of the American Psychological Association (APA), was in Tucson on September 11th and the Psychology Department hosted a meet and greet attended by faculty, students, and College of Science Dean Carmie Garzione. Heidi Hamann - Associate Professor and Associate Head for the Psychology Department - said, "This was a special opportunity for our department, including our trainees. The American Psychological Association is the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the country, with over 146,000 members and 54 divisions."

Our clinical program has a long and distinguished history, and it has been accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) since 1962. As leader of the APA Executive Office, Dr. Evans oversees the implementation of APA policies, the management of day-to-day functions, and the vision for key initiatives. Dr. Evans has a long history of leadership, with a focus on equity, policy engagement, and advocacy.
