Our Goals
The climate of academia and the classroom environment are core components of the university experience that have the power to influence student perceptions and academic outcomes positively or negatively. The mission of the book review program is to foster an atmosphere in which students, teaching assistants, and course instructors alike see themselves thoughtfully represented in course materials and as constructors of knowledge. To this end, the book review program will create a publicly-available book review resource for education, increase department awareness and understanding of a range of diversity-related topics, and make recommendations for improvements to psychology department coursework. Our impact is directed principally within our department, but also carries the hope of creating a resource that benefits the University of Arizona, other academic institutions, and the public.
