The Buddies Program
Please note, registration for the Fall 2018 buddy program is closed. Please check back for information to register for the Spring 2019 buddy program!
About: In Spring 2018, we implemented a new program just for our Arizona Online Psychology students: The Buddies Program! This program is optional, however, research has shown that programs utilizing support partners or “buddies” increase an individual’s commitment to the program and overall success-rate within the program compared to people without a "buddy." As such, the Buddies Program has been developed to allow students an opportunity to connect with each other and have an “accountability partner” or buddy to help each other stay on track with coursework.
How it works:
- If you decide to sign up for the program, it is a one-semester commitment.
- You and a buddy will be paired up and will exchange contact information.
- You will receive periodic reminders throughout the semester to reach out and get in touch with your buddy; to check-in and see how they are doing.
We recommend getting in contact once every couple weeks, but no less than once per month. Communication can occur however it works for you! You can connect virtually through Adobe Connect or Google Hangouts, you could send texts, emails, or even old-fashioned snail mail or phone calls! You and your buddy can discuss challenges to online learning or different study tips or tricks that you’ve successfully used in the past. This is a low time-intensive activity, but we do ask that once you’ve made the commitment, you remain as a buddy throughout the entire semester. No one wants to be left buddy-less mid-semester!
