How to Access Advising


Walk-in Advising

Walk-in advising is conducted on a first-come first-served basis. Please call 621-7439 or stop by the Psychology Building, Room 320 for walk-in advising availability. Walk-in advising is usually handled by the graduate Advising Assistants who can assist with the following:

  • Changing to the Psychology major or minor
  • Explaining Psychology and general education course requirements
  • Giving general information on Psychology classes
  • Access to Student Link and General Catalogs
  • Printing and reviewing SAPRs
  • Providing Psychology graduate school and career information

Appointments

Advising appointments can be scheduled by calling 621-7439 or by stopping by the Psychology Building, Room 320. All services provided during walk-in advising are also available by appointment. You will be asked to specify your advising needs so we may better assist you; please be as specific as possible. Appointments are required for:

  • Official Senior Degree Check
  • VA and ROTC paperwork
  • Evaluation of transfer credit
  • Approval for Correspondence or Study Abroad
  • Approval of a thematic minor
  • Students on academic probation
  • Anything that requires a signature

Minor Advising:

Contact your minor department for all minor requirements, or look online under the catalog.

The Department of Psychology integrates its teaching and research missions in a variety of ways. Our undergraduate major, one of the largest at the university, focuses on providing students with a solid grounding in research methods, and broad exposure to two domains: (1) Cognition and Neural Systems and (2) Individual and Social Processes. Our graduate program includes concentrations in clinical, social, evolutionary psychology, cognition and neural systems, and in psychology, policy and law
