Thinking about one’s self is an unavoidable human activity. Who am I? How do I know what is good, moral, or right? What role does culture play in the development of self or identity? How does "who I am" influence how I behave? My research addresses these questions, with specific attention to how social representations of race, culture, and social class influence psychological well-being, physical health, and educational attainment.
